Stevenson High School One Of Top 5 in Illinois: U.S. News
The Lincolnshire school was also recognized as a Top 200 school nationally.
More than 600 Illinois high schools were considered in the latest rankings published by the U.S. News & World Report on Tuesday, but only four were found to be better than Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire.
Stevenson was the highest ranked school in the state not in the city of Chicago. The only schools slotted higher were Northside College Preparatory High School, Walter Payton Community Preparatory High School, Jones Prep High School and Whitney M. Young Magnet High School - all of Chicago. Nationally, Stevenson landed in the top 200, fitting in at 191.

In examining Stevenson, the study found 90 percent of its students proficient in mathematics and 87 percent in reading. Its College Readiness Index is 69.2 and STEM rank is 62.
Schools are evaluated based on overall student performance on state assessments, Advanced Placement tests and International Baccalaureate exams. The ranking also takes into account how well schools educate black, Hispanic and economically disadvantaged students.

With a total enrollment of 3,856, the report found minorities to consist of 30 percent of the student population and 5 percent were found to be economically challenged.
According to the report, Illinois has many schools ranked in 2015 among the U.S. News Best High Schools, including 17 gold medal schools, 69 silver medal schools and 91 bronze medal schools.
