After School Adventures program at Des Plaines History Center

After School Adventures, "Henri Matisse," Tuesday, November 3, from 3-5 p.m.at the Des Plaines History Center, 781 Pearson Street.

Children are invited to learn a little history and make a craft at the After School Adventures program “Henri Matisse,” Tuesday, November 3, from 3-5 p.m.at the Des Plaines History Center, 781 Pearson Street.

French artist Henri Matisse was an influential printmaker and sculptor but is primarily known as a painter. As a leading figure of modern art, he worked with a whimsical and bright color palette. Toward his final years, Matisse was unable to paint and started creating paper cut-outs. One of his most famous pieces is Jazz. Children will create their own Jazz cut-outs at this program, which is designed for children, ages 5-12, with an adult. The fee is $3 per child for non-members, $2 for members.
