Des Plaines Man Allegedly Stabbed Former Girlfriend, Bond Set At $2.5 Million: State's Attorney
Victor Tornez-Sanchez, 27, has been charged with one count of first degree murder, according to DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.

DES PLAINES, IL — A Des Plaines man who allegedly stabbed his former girlfriend to death has had his bond set at $2.5 million, according to a release from DuPage County State's Attorney. Victor Tornez-Sanchez, 27, has been charged with one count of first degree murder for allegedly stabbing his former girlfriend on June 18.
According to the release, at 9:26 p.m. June 18, Bensenville Police Department received a call regarding a stabbing victim at 713 Parkside Lane. Officers found Olivia Renteria-Bravo, 32, unresponsive and lying in a pool of blood about 10 feet away from the building.
Renteria-Bravo appeared to have been stabbed at least three times, once in her chest, once in her right side and once in her right bicep, according to the release. She was immediately transported to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital where she passed away as a result of her injuries.

An investigation into the murder led authorities to her former boyfriend, Tornez-Sanchez. It is alleged that Tornez-Sanchez waited in a vehicle outside Renteria-Bravo’s home for her to return from a date with her new boyfriend, according to a release. After Renteria-Bravo was dropped off in front of her building, Tornez-Sanchez allegedly ran toward her, stabbed her three times, ran back to his vehicle and fled the scene. Tornez-Sanchez was taken into custody June 19 in Elgin.
“Domestic violence continues to be a thorn in the side of society,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a release. “The allegations in this case demonstrate the sad, tragic and at times permanent effects of domestic violence. I offer my sincerest condolences to Olivia’s family and friends and they try to come to terms with what happened that horrible night."

“On behalf of the Bensenville Police Department, we extend our deepest condolences to Ms. Renteria-Bravo’s friends and family,” Bensenville Chief of Police Frank Kosman said in a release. “The arrest of the suspect can be attributed to the efforts and partnership of several local law enforcement units including the DuPage County Major Crimes Task Force, State's Attorney Bob Berlin's office, and the Elgin Police Department.”
Tornez-Sanchez’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 6, in front of Judge John Kinsella.
