22 Coronavirus Cases Confirmed At Willowbrook Nursing Home

Everyone at the facility was tested for the coronavirus, officials said. In total 18 patients and four employees tested positive.

WILLOWBROOK, IL — According to Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, 22 coronavirus cases have been confirmed at a long-term care facility in Willowbrook. The news comes just days after a woman in her 60s was diagnosed with coronavirus at Chateau Center Nursing and Rehabilitation Saturday.

Everyone at the facility was tested for coronavirus, according to Pritzker. In total 18 patients and four employees tested positive for the virus.

On Monday, DuPage County declared a state of disaster after the first case in the county was confirmed.

Illinois Department of Public Health Director Ngozi Ezike said during Tuesday's news conference that residents have been isolated in a hospital or in a separate wing of the facility. Staff has been furloughed to their homes, Ezike added.

She said the case illustrates the need for health care staff to make sure they are not unwittingly transmitting the virus to patients.

As fears over coronavirus lead to restaurant closures and increased social distancing, the DuPage County Courthouse has suspended all criminal and civil cases through April 17. Weddings and civil ceremonies have been rescheduled through April 24.
