All the Beauty in the World

Patrick Bringley's new memoir about grief and beauty combined.

All the Beauty in the World talks about Bringley's new job at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and how the appreciation of art after the loss of a family member or friend can truly cleanse the soul. When his brother is diagnosed with cancer and dies, he finds a decade of true solace as an employee at the Museum after leaving his job at the New Yorker. Patrick portrays fascinating treasures that define the museum in his beautiful memoir, published by Simon and Schuster, and is also available for purchase at Amazon.

“All the Beauty in the World” is an empathic chronicle of one museum, the works collected there and the people who keep it running — all recounted by an especially patient observer. The New York Times Book Review

“Exquisite… A beautiful tale about beauty. It is also a tale about grief, balancing solitude and comradeship, and finding joy in both the exalted and the mundane.” —The Washington Post

“Elegant in its simplicity and dedicated to his brother, Tom, Bringley explores the way that great works of art can function as a balm for the soul, not unlike the immersive experience of travel to a foreign land… a work of art as luminous as the old masters paintings that comforted him in his grief.” -Associated Press

“Few know the secrets of the Metropolitan Museum of Art like the guards who roam its two million square feet treasure, keeping an eye on its treasures. For a decade, Patrick Bringley was one of them, and in this moving memoir, he recounts bonding with his colleagues and marveling at the beautiful works of art he is entrusted to protect.”-The New York Post
