Man Charged With String of Burglaries in Downers Grove: Police

Police charged Aldo Parrado Vega, 33, of Key West Florida with a string of burglaries in unincorporated Downers Grove Saturday.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — DuPage County Sheriff's Office have charged a man after a string of reported burglaries in unincorporated Downers Grove. Aldo Parrado Vega, 33, of Key West Florida, was arrested near the 3700 block of Sterling Road Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 11:20 a.m., DuPage County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of vehicle burglaries and a possible home burglary near 37th and Sterling. Other law enforcement agencies helped the Sheriff's police to form a perimeter surrounding Parrado Vega, who was taken into custody at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Parrado Vega was charged with one count of residential burglary, one count of attempted residential burglary and one count of possession of a controlled substance. He was also charged with felony fugitive from justice for an active arrest warrant from Florida, police said.

In a statement, undersheriff Frank Bibbiano praised the work of deputies who took part in this investigation. He also thanked members of nearby law enforcement departments, including Downers Grove Police, Westmont Police, Oak Brook Police and Lombard Police. Bibbiano credited the suspect's quick capture to "the teamwork exhibited by all agencies involved allowed for the quick capture of this suspect."

Parrado Vega is currently being held at the DuPage County Jail and will appear in bond court Monday.

ORIGINAL STORY: A man has been arrested in connection with a string of vehicle and residential burglaries in Downers Grove, police said. DuPage County Sheriff’s Office took a Hispanic male into custody around 12:30 p.m. Saturday near Sterling and 37th Street in unincorporated Downers Grove.

Police said there is no current threat to residents in the community.
