A student from the College of Dental Medicine-Illinois (CDMI) recently received recognition for his efforts beyond the classroom. Adam Parikh, a second-year dental medicine student, received the 2017 American Association of Dental Research Student Advocate of the Year Award. He received the honor for his support of dental, oral, and craniofacial research.

Mr. Parikh advocated on behalf of the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) as part of their Advocacy Challenge. He met with legislative leaders on Capitol Hill about the importance of funding research in all areas of healthcare. The AADR is a non-profit national organization dedicating to advancing research and increasing knowledge for the improvement of oral health.
