DOWNERS GROVE, IL --- As the annual Bonfield Express 5K approaches, the foundation has gotten a headstart to getting into the giving spirit by donating a total of $13,000 to all the schools in District 58. Each of the 13 schools in the district 58 school system will receive $1,000 from the institute's ongoing fundraising efforts.
District officials said in a press release that the money will be used to improve educational resources and to give recognition to students who "display extra effort and citizenship." These are traits that Bonfrield Express Foundation's namesake Jim Bonfield displayed, along with "personal perseverance, strong moral character, joy of learning, and commitment to community," the press release said.
In a statement, District 58 Superintendent Dr. Kari Cremascoli thanked Bonfield Express for its donation. Cremascoli said, "donations help fund resources to support student learning and discovery."
