Dog, Cats Saved From Fire On Winthrop Way In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Three pets were saved from a fire that displaced residents from a single-family home in the 7400 block of Winthrop Way Thursday morning.

No one was home at the residence when firefighters were called to the scene around 10:20 a.m. Upon arrival, fire crews saw smoke coming from the outside of the home. They were able to rescue a dog and two cats from inside the residence and put out the blaze quickly, according to a news release and village officials.

The home was deemed uninhabitable due to the extent of damage it sustained. Members of the Downers Grove Fire Department helped the residents find interim housing.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined as of Thursday afternoon.
