Downers Grove Firefighters Share Fire Safety Tips In Fun Video
The firefighters hope the video will help teach children how to prevent burns and fires.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The Downers Grove Fire Department is certainly dedicated to spreading the word about fire safety. The department spoke about fire safety in local schools in February and recently unveiled an educational video starring some of its firefighters to help children learn more about staying safe from burns and fires.
According to Downers Grove fire officials, nearly 50,000 people are treated for burn injuries throughout the U.S. and Canada annually. In many cases, these burns could have been prevented, firefighters say.
The fire department hopes that educating children will help prevent such injuries in the home. "By arming themselves with the knowledge of the many different ways a burn injury could occur, students may take the information home to their caregivers and all family members can take the necessary steps to ensurea safe environment," Fire Department spokesperson Marsha Giesler said in a news release.
