Downers Grove Shooting: Juvenile Turns Himself In

A juvenile suspect has turned himself in to the police after an arrest warrant was issued for last month's shooting in Downers Grove.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A juvenile suspect has turned himself in to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office after police issued a warrant for his arrest for last month's shooting in unincorporated Downers Grove. The shooting took place on May 22 in the 2300 block of Maple Avenue. The male victim was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital for a gunshot found to his foot and was released the same day.

An investigation led police to the alleged shooter, who is a juvenile. The juvenile turned himself in Thursday. Police said the suspect was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, two counts of aggravated battery, reckless discharge of a firearm, two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated assault via a juvenile petition.

The DuPage County Sheriff's Office had initially remained tight-lipped about the May 22 shooting in Downers Grove. This may be due to the fact that the alleged shooter is a juvenile.
