DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A former security guard at Downers Grove High School has been charged with indecent solicitation and grooming of an underage student. Police say Gonzalo Cesar Navejar, 39, of the first block of Kingery Quarter, Willowbrook, contacted the student in an attempt to "seduce the girl to commit a sexual act."

According to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, Navejar initiated contact with the student via social media in late October 2019. Once school authorities found out about the interaction, they alerted Downers Grove Police, who launched an investigation, leading to the felony charges against Navejar.

DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement, "The allegations against Mr. Nevejar are, in a word, disgusting. Instead of protecting students, Mr. Navejar allegedly tried to engage in sexual activity with an underage girl to satisfy his sick sexual desires. Sexual predators are among the most vile in our society and anyone accused of such behavior, as alleged in this case, will find themselves looking at significant charges."
