Faithful Circle Quilters Host Quilt Show Next Week

West Suburban Quilt Show, September 16 & 17

The Faithful Circle Quilters will host their 20th biennial Quilt Show, “Bouquet of Quilts” on Saturday and Sunday, September 16 & 17, 2017. The shows co-chairs, Elaine Bailey and Annabelle Jankowiak, both of Downers Grove stated that 428 member quilts were registered—the most ever. The show will be held at Jefferson Junior High School, 7200 Janes Ave. in Woodridge. In addition to the huge quilt display, there will be vendors, a Bed Turning, Raffle Baskets, a Silent Auction to benefit the Family Shelter Service in Downers Grove, and more.

Among the special exhibits at the show is the Member Challenge, coordinated by Coleen Walter of Westmont. The theme for this year’s show is “Bouquet of Quotes”. Twenty-five members made a wall quilt depicting the quote of their choice. Eight women, who refer to themselves as the Janettes, will have their versions of the famous 1863 quilt by Jane Stickle, “Dear Jane”. An exhibit of the many award-winning quilts honoring this year’s Featured Quilter, Sharon Smith of Lisle will be on display.

Raffle tickets will be on sale for the prize-winning Opportunity Quilt, “Common Threads”. This bed quilt was designed by Brooke Winters of Downers Grove and made by over 50 members of the guild. It won Honorable Mention at the American Quilters Society’s show held in Paducah, KY this April.
