Firefighters Battle Blaze In Unincorporated Wheaton
Fire officials say the home "sustained heavy damage" and a firefighter suffered a minor injury.

WHEATON, IL — The Wheaton Fire Department battled a blaze Friday morning that caused heavy damage to a two-story home in an unincorporated part of the city. The fire broke out around 8 a.m. in the 0N300 block of Papworth and quickly spread to the home's second floor and attic.
City officials say no one was home at the time of the fire. A firefighter who was battling the blaze suffered a minor injury and was taken to a local hospital and released shortly after.
The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes with the help of the DuPage County Sheriff's Office and several neighboring fire departments.

The cause of the fire is currently undetermined, but Wheaton Fire Department and the Dupage County Fire Investigation Taskforce are conducting an investigation.
