If you are considering sending your child to Overnight Summer Camp for the
first time this summer, it's helpful to prepare so that camp is a success.
Be
sure they are emotionally ready, often that is judged by age but not
always. We often see 7 or 8 year olds ready for camp while older
brothers or sisters are more reluctant.
Has your child spent the night overnight at Grandma's? Can he/she do
it with out calling ot texting home? . Do you need to go save them? If
so they might not be ready for this experience. Unless of course you
practice a bit more. Be sure to talk about homesickness and that it is normal. But give them hints to overcome such feelings if it occurs.
