GoFundMe Started By Partner Of Downers Grove Man Killed Near Loretto Hospital
The fundraiser will help with funeral expenses for Daniel Figueroa, 28, who was found dead near Loretto Hospital early Monday.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A GoFundMe has been started to help with funeral expenses for Daniel Figueroa, the 28-year-old Downers Grove man who was found dead near early Monday Loretto Hospital, where he had been sent to deliver an Uber Eats order.
The fundraiser was started by Sandra Guerrero, Figueroa's partner, who wrote,
"On 2/23/26, my life changed forever when I lost my significant other, Daniel. He was the main provider for our home and the person I shared my life with. His passing has left not only an emotional void, but also a sudden financial burden that I never expected to face. As I navigate this unimaginable grief with our son, I am also struggling to keep up with funeral expenses, rent, utilities, and other essential bills that Daniel previously covered."
According to WGN, Figueroa had delivered an Uber Eats order to Loretto and then was found lying on the ground in the 5500 block of Flournoy. Figueroa was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead.

Police say surveillance footage shows three people got into Figueroa's van while he was inside Loretto delivering the order, Chicago Tribune reports. Figueroa reportedly tried to get into the van and then jumped onto the passenger door and was dragged.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the GoFundMe for Figueroa had raised just over $2,400 of its $11,000 goal.

Guerrero told Patch, she hopes people remember Figueroa "as a hard worker [and] loving man who was loved by everyone around him."
She added, "He worked for Amazon in Downers Grove and did [a] few hours doing Uber Eats. He was a handsome, devoted man."
Figueroa said, "He was taken from me and his family too soon. We want justice. This shouldn't have happened to him. He will be missed deeply."
