Good Samaritan Hospital’s Wellness Center celebrates National Senior Fitness Day with free admission for those 65+ May 31
Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital Health and Wellness Center welcomes seniors to a celebration of Senior Health & Fitness Day May 31.
The Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital Health and Wellness Center in Downers Grove welcomes area seniors to a celebration of National Senior Health & Fitness Day May 31 for a free day of healthy activities.
The center will highlight some of its many classes geared toward seniors through free center access to all seniors ages 65 and up.
“We commonly hear from our members ‘If we didn’t keep moving with the help of the Wellness Center I am not sure I would accomplish what I wanted in life,’” says Laura Tarry, the center’s fitness manager. “We feel very fortunate to work with people of all ages as they strive to remain happy, healthy and active.”

Steve Gasser, fitness specialist at the Wellness Center, says staying active at any age helps boost energy, maintain a healthy weight and can lower your risk of heart disease, diabetes, heart disease and even dementia.
Seniors interested in joining the center will also have their activation fee waived if they join during the celebration of senior fitness.

Class opportunities on Wednesday, May 31, include:
- Mature Strength – Build bone density and lean muscle mass through an age-appropriate program. 11:15 am to noon
- Aqua Tone – Improve balance and coordination with a variety of controlled movements in a warm water pool. Aquatic equipment will be used. 1:10 to 1:55 pm; 2 to 2:45 pm; 6 to 6:45 pm.
