'Heinous' Murder: Accused Teen's Mom Tips Cops Off To Grisly Find
Accused killer's mom tipped off cops after finding blood in her teen's vehicle. The 18-year-old victim was stabbed, run over and set ablaze.

WEST CHICAGO, IL — Disturbing new details have emerged in a West Chicago love triangle murder that left a dead body still smoldering beneath a blanket in a fire pit Tuesday. At a press conference Thursday, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said Luis Guerrero, 18, had been stabbed "more than a dozen times" before being set on fire, had gotten up and tried to flee while still on fire, but was run over by one of the suspect's cars.
Francisco Alvarado, 18, of West Chicago, and Tia Brewer, 16, of Wheaton, have been charged with first-degree murder in Guerrero's death and are being held in DuPage County Jail without bond. Jesus Correa, 18, who police say brought gasoline to Alvarado and Brewer, has been charged with concealment of a homicide.
Police say they were tipped off by the parent of one of the suspects who had found blood in and on a Jeep Cherokee at their home. Officers then tracked down Brewer and Alvarado at a hotel in Chicago, where they were found with a "bloody backpack that contained a bloody knife," Berlin said.

Brewer and Guerrero had reportedly been involved in a "dating relationship," according to police, who said Brewer was dating Alvarado at the time of the murder. Police say Brewer told them during statements that the victim had allegedly raped her "at some point in the past."
Berlin said the circumstances of the "brutal and heinous" murder involved an "unconscionable degree of depravity." He added that the DuPage County Coroner's Office is still investigating all of the factors that caused Guerrero's death.
