Jasper’s Pathways to Employment Success!

The people at HFD were extremely helpful. I was able to get transportation vouchers for job searches.

I came to the United States in 2010. It has not been easy settling down. I went to school in England and am originally from Nigeria. I have done writing/research on war and displacement and the affects upon women and children in Uganda. The war there has created so many orphans. I felt a connection with the kids. I wanted to find a way to help support them, but needed a job.

I was first referred to Hope’s Front Door by a client. I was not employed and what I was wishing for was to get a job. The people at HFD were extremely helpful. I was able to get transportation vouchers for job searches. After that I would get weekly emails about jobs through Pathways to Employment; it was helpful. I called two jobs from the list before I found Septran through the list and I was told about the Septran hiring event by a volunteer.

Walking through that door helped change a whole lot. We, my family and I, are a lot more stable, a lot happier, everybody is happy! Now I have a job, a very reliable job. It has helped me, my family and the orphans. They are comfortable now all because I have a job and all because HFD pointed me in the right direction.

I have three children, but I also consider the 45 orphans as my children as well. With this job, I can go to visit the orphans in the summer and help build a place for them. With this job at Septran, I see the chance to help many more.

I want to say thank you to HFD because they are giving hope. Some people are discouraged. What HFD is doing is not small. They are affecting generations. You are giving hope to people.
