Local physician named Medical Director of Palliative Care and Hospice for Advocate

Dr. Kimberly Battle-Miller will lead system-wide palliative care and hospice efforts for Advocate

Advocate Health Care’s Post Acute Network and Advocate Medical Group (AMG) are pleased to announce the appointment of Kimberly M. Battle-Miller, MS, MD, as system medical director of hospice and palliative care.

In this role, she will lead Advocate Health Care’s systemwide palliative care program, which provides care across the spectrum of inpatient, outpatient and home care settings, and will work with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to guide Advocate Hospice patients’ medical care. She will also have a clinical practice and be on staff at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

Most recently, Dr. Battle Miller worked as a palliative medicine consultant for Northwestern Medicine at Central DuPage Hospital, and currently serves as a disease-specific palliative care physician reviewer for The Joint Commission. She previously served as Hospice and Palliative Medicine Medical Director for Vitas Healthcare’s Chicago Central Program where her responsibilities included administrative and patient care oversight as well as program development of the home health team and inpatient hospice unit at Mercy Hospital in Chicago.

Dr. Battle-Miller earned her medical degree and a Masters in Biochemistry from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Sciences (formerly University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School), North Chicago, and completed a residency in pediatrics and a pediatric critical care fellowship at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. She also earned a Masters of Business Administration from University of Saint Frances, Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics—in both pediatrics and hospice and palliative medicine.
