Man Gets 4 Years After Carjackings In Downers Grove, Warrenville

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A man has been sentenced to four years in prison after reaching a plea deal involving a series of carjackings that were reported in Downers Grove and Warrenville in 2019, Suburban Life reports.

Reginald Farr, 33, of Chicago, entered a guilty plea Tuesday to a charge of aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Prosecutors agreed to drop a charge of felony armed violence and five felony gun- and ammunition-related charges.

Farr was taken into custody Dec. 13, 2019, after he was found with a stolen Dodge Charger at a hotel in Downers Grove, police say.

The Charger had been spotted by police during an incident earlier that day. The friend of a Downers Grove woman whose Kia had been stolen at gunpoint had followed the stolen car as it was being driven away. When the friend got out of his car and began to approach the Charger at a stoplight, the men in the Kia got out. Some of the men fled on foot, but one of the men got into the Charger, which drove away, according to police.

Police say the men were linked to another armed carjacking that had been reported roughly 20 minutes earlier on County Ridge Road in Warrenville. Daysean Washington-Davis, 19, of Chicago, and Emanuel Embry, 19, of Chicago, and a 17-year-old were taken into custody shortly after the Dec. 13 incident. Police say the three were also connected to a Nov. 2019 carjacking in the 2000 block of Prairie Avenue in Downers Grove.

Farr must serve 50 percent of his four-year sentence before he becomes eligible for parole. He will receive time served for the more than 700 days he has been in custody since his arrest.
