Midwestern University Dean Honored for Commitment to Healthcare Education

The Dean of Midwestern University's College of Health Sciences recently received recognition for his contributions to healthcare education.

The Dean of Midwestern University’s College of Health Sciences recently received recognition for his contributions to healthcare education. Fred D. Romano, Ph.D., M.S. Dean, College of Health Sciences-Downers Grove, was named a Fellow of the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions (ASAHP), a not-for-profit national professional association for administrators, educators, and others who were concerned with critical issues affecting health education. The ASAHP Fellows Program Award was designed to provide meaningful recognition to those members who have contributed significantly to allied health as administrators, educators, clinicians, or researchers.

In addition, Dr. Romano was elected to serve on the ASAHP Nominations and Elections Committee. Dr. Romano has a long tenure with the organization including serving as a:
• Member, IPE Strategic Planning Committee, 2013 – present
• Abstract Reviewer, ASAHP Annual Conference, 2013 – present
• Member, ASAHP Fall Conference Planning Committee, 2013
• Manuscript Review, Journal of Allied Health, 2013
• Participant, ASAHP Leadership Development Program, 2011

As Dean of the College of Health Sciences-Downers Grove, Dr. Romano oversees the educational experience of students who enroll in one of several programs including physician assistant studies, physical therapy, occupational therapy, biomedical science, clinical psychology, and speech-language pathology.
