Naperville Man Used Stolen Credit Card For Court Fees: Cops

He allegedly paid $6,000 in court fees with stolen card and bank info.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville man has been charged with felony identity theft after he allegedly used stolen credit cards to pay multiple court fees. Police say Brenton Thurman, 28, of the first block of Olesen Drive, used the stolen credit card and bank account information to pay roughly $6,000 in court fees, according to Chicago Tribune.

According to police, Thurman also accepted cash from other people who wanted their court fees paid, but then he allegedly used the stolen cards to make the payments and kept the cash. Police say Thurman's alleged actions were reported by the DuPage County Clerk's Office.

DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said, "The behavior alleged against Mr. Thurman is outrageous and, if proven guilty, will not go unpunished."
