As the New Year approaches for Hope's Front Door

“I was working and in school and trying to find a job. It was stressful. I was concerned about how to keep everything afloat. When I was downsized, I was really depressed. I needed help with food and gas. And you guys helped me with those things at the first visit! I was amazed! With your help I was immediately able to feed my three boys and get a gas card so that I could look for work and get to school. It was such a relief.”
By contributing, you help people access basic need items and access empowering life skills education. Pamela also enrolled in HOPE’S FRONT DOORS’ Banking Assistance Program that taught her budgeting and financial management strategies to avoid pitfalls resulting in financial instability and poverty.

“The program taught me to work with my tight income and helped me with learning to save. I started saving money and graduated the program with a matching grant from HOPE’S FRONT DOORS’ bank partners. This became my emergency fund. I kept thinking ‘Why didn’t I put myself on this type of budget a long time ago!”. After graduating the program and being able to follow the budget, it was such a relief from the stress.”
Pamela has not needed HOPE’S FRONT DOOR services since 2011 and now is not only doing well . . . she is thriving!

“Since I was last a client I was able to finish a BA degree in Criminal Psychology and am now working at a non-profit helping juveniles who need help. I love my job! I was so grateful for the help I received, I wanted to give back. Since my last visit to HOPE’S FRONT DOOR it has not always been easy, but I held to the principles I was taught in the Banking Assistance Program. I am still saving and have a checking account too. The budgeting was kind of hard because when I started I did not have a lot of money. I just started saving at $10 a month. It wasn’t much, but it put me in the place so that when I did make more money I would be in the habit of saving. So, I wouldn’t become the person that I was years ago. So, that I could survive if times got tough. When I first walked into HOPE’S FRONT DOOR IN 2010, my credit was not that good. It was in the 500s, now I am at almost 800. Previously, I was over spending and not being able to pay my bills. Coming to the program helped me learn discipline; it taught me how to be successful. I am happy that my children saw me being disciplined and budgeting. I believe that is why they are on the road to being successful. One of my sons will be graduating the police academy soon! I tell everyone about HOPE’S FRONT DOOR. You guys and the people who support you do so much good in the community!”
