Downers Grove Man's Heart Health Journey Celebrated At Bears Home Opener (patch.com) — Downers Grove residents can cheer on one of their own as 73-year-old Pat O'Flaherty was honored on the field at the Chicago Bears' Sept. 20 home opener for his remarkable heart health journey. The retired local dentist credits Advocate Health Care and a positive mindset for helping him thrive after a heart attack, multiple procedures, and years of adventurous travel and service work.
   

2. DuPage non-profits, community groups answer the bell for struggling families sending children back to school (shawlocal.com) — Downers Grove families facing rising costs are getting help from local nonprofits, schools, and community groups that provide backpacks, supplies, clothing, and even scholarships. Hope's Front Door, the Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club, District 58, and the local AAUW branch are coordinating donations and targeted support so students can start school prepared and residents can better afford further education.
   

3. York, Downers Grove South win West Suburban Conference boys golf titles:Tuesday's Suburban Life sports roundup (shawlocal.com) — Downers Grove South's boys golf team captured the West Suburban Gold title at Prairie Bluff with a 303, led by medalist Chase Betourney's 73, while Downers Grove North finished sixth in the Silver division. The roundup also highlights strong showings from nearby schools in boys golf, girls volleyball, and girls tennis, showcasing how competitive west suburban programs are this fall.
   

4. Mainstreet Realtors partners with Gitcha on buyer listing service (housingwire.com) — A Downers Grove–based real estate association, Mainstreet Organization of Realtors, is rolling out a new Buyer Listing Service for its suburban Chicagoland members to better match buyers and sellers in a tight housing market. The tool will live inside Mainstreet's existing member portal and aims to make buyer needs more visible, potentially affecting how local agents serve clients across DuPage and nearby counties.
