• Ramp closures and lane reductions scheduled on Tri-State Tollway for bridge repair work (dupagepolicyjournal.com) — Drivers in and around Downers Grove should prepare for overnight ramp and lane closures on I-294 starting this evening, including the Balmoral Avenue ramp to southbound Tri-State Tollway and lane reductions near Lawrence Avenue. Detours will route traffic via I-190 and Mannheim Road, with additional intermittent closures and lane shifts continuing through October as part of long-term bridge repairs coordinated with state and local agencies.
   

• Downers Grove says farewell to the Mayor of Main Street (shawlocal.com) — Downtown Downers Grove is mourning longtime Hof Cleaners owner Chris Karathanasis, affectionately known as the unofficial "Mayor of Main Street," after his sudden death in early September. His daughter and son-in-law have moved back to keep the nearly century-old Main Street shop going, while neighboring businesses and customers share stories of his quiet generosity and welcoming presence. Local services were held in Elmhurst, with arrangements handled by a Main Street funeral home.
