Polar Plunge Heroes: Downers Grove Residents Raise $25,000
Helmed by parents of a son with Down syndrome, the Downers Grove team landed among the top 10 fundraisers.

A team of Downers Grove residents braved the cold and took a dip in Lake Michigan’s icy waters as part of Chicago’s annual Polar Plunge. They walked away a little colder, but not empty-handed. The team raised just under $25,000 to donate to the Special Olympics. The cause is near and dear to the team captains of the Downers Grove Plungaholics, who are raising a son with Down syndrome.
mySuburbanLife.com reports that the 56-person team landed in the top 10 of all fundraisers with their significant contribution. The Polar Plunge of Chicago raised nearly $1.5 million at the March 5 event. All funds go to supporting Special Olympics athletes.
