Seniors Earn Scholarships From Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Ten local high school seniors were recently awarded a total of $20,000 in scholarships from the Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club (DGJWC).

The scholarships, for $2,000 each, were awarded to the following students:

• Madison Drye of Timothy Christian Academy
• Ted Dulles of Downers Grove South
• Julia Hanson of Downers Grove North
• Emily Lang of Downers Grove South
• Peyton Myers of Downers Grove North
• Brenda Perez of Downers Grove South
• Hailey Silanskis of Downers Grove South
• Calista Shuster of Downers Grove North
• Tyler Werner of Downers Grove North
• Lauryn Wilson of Downers Grove South

The students were chosen from a pool of 70 applicants who lived in or attend school in Downers Grove.

“These individuals embody what is at the core of the DGJWC's mission: supporting others in need," DGJWC president Lindsay Garrity said in a statement. "Our Club is so honored to award scholarships to these well-deserving students.”

DGJWC has a long history of supporting students, teachers an other residents in and around the village. In March, they donated more than $20,000 to Habitat for Humanity to help area senior citizens age in place.
