Sensory Pods, Weighted Vests Coming To Downer Grove Library
The accessibility kits, sponsored by the Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club, will have items available for purchase or checkout.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL —Accessibility kits containing sensory pods, weighted vests and other items will be available at Downers Grove Library for checkout or purchase. The kits are made possible via a $5,000 donation from the Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club (DGJWC).
“We are very thankful to the DGJWC for funding this exciting new project,” Allyson Renell, Downers Grove Public Library Manager of Children’s Services said in a news release.
Renell added, "This generous donation allows the library to continue in our mission to make the library a place for everyone to discover, grow, play, and learn, no matter their abilities."

Some of the accessibility items include:
- Activities
- Adaptive game controllers
- Games
- Sensory pods
- Weighted vests
Many of the items can be checked out, which will allow kids to try them to see if they suit their needs. Library patrons are encouraged to contact kidsdesk@dglibrary.org to suggest additional items they'd like to be made available via the accessibility kits.

“Our Club is thrilled to support this inclusive initiative by the library,” DGJWC Philanthropy Chair Kristen Avery said in a news release.
Avery added, "Knowing what a great need there is for these types of items, we are so proud to help the library kickstart this unique offering."
