As we close out 2022, a topic that gains steam year after year is sustainability. More and more consumers are realizing the importance of going green. In fact, a recent study shows more than a third of global consumers are willing to pay more for sustainability as demand grows for environmentally friendly alternatives. And it seems younger consumers are more actively taking steps towards being more sustainable.
As we ring in the new year and start thinking through our resolutions, consider being more eco-conscious in 2023. And it doesn’t have to be expensive. It could be as easy as using reusable coffee cups or making an effort to take the reusable grocery totes with you instead of leaving it at home. Even small steps in the right direction will make a difference.

Make your home more energy efficient. Install solar panels, but if there’s no budget for that, even small baby steps will make a difference in your carbon footprint. Use energy efficient light-bulbs or buy energy efficient appliances which are ubiquitous in today’s marketplace.
Consider composting. Most people know about the importance of recycling, but composting is also a great way to be eco-conscious. It’s a great way to make use of organic waste like vegetable peelings, fruit skin, lawn trimmings and so much more. Amazon sells a variety of affordable composting bins perfect for beginners and has many options for all budgets, making composting easy, and dare I say, fun?

Choose disposable beauty wipes, baby wipes and even pet wipes wisely. Disposable wet wipes are convenient, easy to use, and perfect for the on-the-go lifestyle many of us have. But it’s imperative to use biodegradable wet wipes, especially the ones that use VEOCEL™ branded fibers. Many of the world’s top brands like Neutrogena (makeup wipes), Coterie (baby wipes), and Earth Rated (pet bath wipes) use VEOCEL fibers in their wipes. The fibers are certified as compostable and biodegradable and thus can fully revert back into nature. So now you don’t need to feel guilty when you toss your wipe out!
Use natural products to clean your home. Do a little research and you’ll find that there are many ways you can keep your home sparkling with natural products you already have in your pantry, like baking soda, vinegar and more. Not only is it environmentally friendly, but you’re also keeping your family safe from harsh chemicals and fumes.
Buy second-hand. Going to the thrift store can be fun and it can save you money. Or swap outfits with your friends. Invite your friends over and let everyone bring a few items of clothing, shoes and handbags they no longer wear and swap it out with one another. Everyone wins, including the environment!
