2 Elmhurst Senior Homes With Virus Outbreaks: State
One nursing home has seen 15 deaths from the coronavirus in its latest outbreak, agency says.
ELMHURST, IL — Nursing homes were hit hard early in the pandemic. But some have had new coronavirus outbreaks more recently, including two in Elmhurst.
The Grove of Elmhurst nursing home has seen 98 coronavirus cases and 15 virus-related deaths in the latest outbreak, according to figures from the Illinois Department of Public Health website. Those numbers have not changed in at least a week.
Meanwhile, Lexington Square, an assisted and independent living facility, has seen 32 cases and one death in the same period. Its numbers also remain unchanged from a week ago. Its next-door nursing home, Lexington of Elmhurst, has seen eight coronavirus cases in its latest outbreak, but no deaths.

According to Medicare's website, The Grove, which has 180 certified beds, is rated as average. Lexington Square couldn't be specifically found on the website, but Lexington nursing home also rated as average.
Representatives of The Grove and Lexington Square did not return messages for comment.

As of Friday, Illinois' nursing homes have seen 59,970 cases ad 7,559 deaths as a result of the coronavirus, according to the state Department of Public Health. The agency's website says Illinois has about 1,200 long-term care facilities, serving more than 100,000 residents.
