Business Dispute, Stolen Flag: Elmhurst Cops

Part owner is terminated and suspected of theft, according to a police report.

ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a business dispute, a stolen flag, disturbances, fugitives, credit card fraud, a missing person and driving violations. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Part owner suspected

  • The victim reported that the suspect, who is part owner of Lee Dental Laboratory, 188 Industrial Drive, stole dental equipment and supplies from the business at 8 a.m. Friday. The victim terminated the suspect and stated he would talk to his attorney about the missing property. The offense was reported Sunday.

  • An American flag was stolen overnight Thursday at Dulles Cleaners, 128 N. Addison Ave.

Disturbances

  • A domestic disturbance happened about 7:30 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of North Oaklawn Avenue. Two people were arguing when things apparently turned physical. No arrests were made because of conflicting statements and no reported injuries.
  • A disturbance happened about 9:30 p.m. Friday at Shell gas station, 218 E. Butterfield Road. A person told police that another person pulled out a knife during an argument. The first person declined to file a complaint.
  • A domestic disturbance happened about 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of South Hillcrest Avenue. Two people were involved in an argument, but it never turned physical. The parties agreed to separate for the evening.
  • A woman told police another woman battered her about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Shady Lane. The other woman said the first one pushed and struck her. Because of conflicting accounts and no independent witnesses, no arrests were made.

  • An officer tried to stop a red and white motorcycle with no registration about 9:30 a.m. Friday at Lake and Route 83. The motorcyclist sped away, last seen headed west on Lake.
  • An officer tried to stop a car that was reported stolen about 5:30 p.m. Friday at Butterfield and Spring. The driver sped away, last seen headed west on Roosevelt.
  • An officer tried to stop a driver for improper lane usage about 3 a.m. Sunday. The suspect car failed to stop and headed east on Roosevelt.
  • An officer saw a car that was reported stolen in Chicago about 9:30 p.m. Sunday at North and Berteau. The officer tried to stop the car, but the driver drove over a raised median and headed south on Ardmore. The police did not pursue the car.

Credit card fraud

  • A woman told police Friday she noticed five unauthorized transactions on her mother's credit card. Her mother lives at the Lexington assisted care facility, 400 W. Butterfield Road. The transactions were from Nov. 17 to Dec. 22. The daughter said her mother's credit card and other property were missing.

Bicycle found

  • A blue GT Stomper boy's bicycle was found Sunday in the 300 block of Eggleston Avenue. The bike was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Missing person

  • An officer checked on the well-being of a person who was limping on the side of the road about 1 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of South Route 83. The officer learned the person was reported missing in Carol Stream. The person was taken into protective custody and taken to the hospital. Carol Stream police were notified.

Driving violations

  • Arnold Cruz-Ortiz, 24, of Bolingbrook, was cited about 8 p.m. Friday at Spring and Harrison on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding. He was released on bond.
  • Rowland Pickens, 58, of Maywood, was cited bout 8:30 p.m. Friday at Lake and West on charges of driving with a suspended license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on bond.
  • Ydalis Santiago, 22, of Chicago, was cited about 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of South Fair on charges of damage to city property, disobeying a stop sign and improper lane usage. She was released on bond.
  • Shanta Lewis, 35, of Villa Park, was cited Saturday on charges of obstructing a police officer and speeding. She was released on bond. The charges were based on a Sept. 19, 2020, incident.
  • Jacob R. Posch, 24, of River Grove, was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Roosevelt and York on charges of driving with a suspended license and improper lane usage. He was released on bond.

Warrant

  • Kaitlyn Koster, 21, of Lombard, was arrested about 3 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of North York on a McHenry County Sheriff's Office warrant. She was released on bond.
