'Dangling' Fence In Elmhurst Removed: Official
But the official said the problem could occur again with other sections of the fence.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst alderman said Monday the "dangling" fence next to Interstate 290 has been removed, thanks to the city and the state.
In early March, Alderman Michael Bram warned that a fence above a sound wall was dangerously dangling over Lake Street frontage in Elmhurst. He said the city followed up, prompting the state to take action.
But he said Elmhurst is likely to see more such problems.

"Once one section is removed, it increases the instability of the sections next to it," Bram said at a City Council meeting. "As I drive along 290, I'm starting to see more and more sections lean."
Bram said the city needed to keep following up with the state when new problems occur. He wanted to avoid a similar situation of a fence "literally, not figuratively, dangling to fall along Lake Street frontage."
