District 205 Closed Again Thursday Due To Cold
Several schools in Elmhurst are closed again on Thursday due to the extreme cold.

ELMHURST, IL — Thursday is expected to be another day with extremely cold temperatures. Several schools have once again canceled school for Thursday, Jan. 31. On Wednesday, temperatures will remain below zero and will struggle to get above zero on Thursday as well. The NWS said the coldest wind chills will range from 40 to 55 below zero on Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
In Elmhurst, schools that are closed Thursday are:
- District 205
- Elmhurst College
- IC Catholic Prep
- Immaculate Conception Grade School
- Elmhurst Academy
- Visitation Catholic School
- Timothy Christian schools
- Immanuel Lutheran School
- Kensington School of Elmhurst
- Mary Queen of Heaven Preschool
In addition, Republic Services will not be collecting garbage in Elmhurst on Thursday, Jan. 31. Garbage collection will be picked up beginning Friday and may continue into Saturday in all areas of Elmhurst, no matter your location. The city said all refuse vehicles, including recycling trucks, will be used for refuse pickup. Therefore, recycling will not be picked up this week, but will resume next week as normal.
