Leyden’s annual Ask the Expert Day welcomed more than 70 professionals from various arenas including business, healthcare, legal, engineering and education. The visitors spoke to students at both campuses and covered 270 classes talking about their educational background, daily work, successes and rewards. Students interacted with the professionals and got first-hand information on careers they are interested in pursuing.

“I think this event really helps students connect the classroom experience to their future plans,” says Frank Holthouse, the district’s Director of Careers and Community Outreach and program organizer. “We had some great examples of conventional and nonconventional post-secondary plans that illustrated it is not always a straight line from point A to point B.”

In addition, Holthouse says Leyden continue to highlight young alumni. “It has an impact when an expert can say ‘I sat in these seats and now I am talking about my career experiences and how I got to where I am now’. It is meaningful,” he notes.
