District 212 presents holiday classic It's a Wonderful Life

Leyden's Fine Arts Department presents the holiday classic It's a Wonderful Life at West Leyden High School in Northlake

It’s a Wonderful Life is slated for Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1 at 7 p.m., and on Sunday, December 2 at 3 p.m. in the auditorium at West Leyden High School, 1000 N. Wolf Rd., Northlake. The cast, crew and production staff includes students from both campuses.

As the tale unfolds, George Bailey’s building and loan company is on the brink of collapse. His Uncle Billy misplaced the $8,000 he was to deposit in an account at Mr. Potter’s bank. Potter finds the money, but doesn’t tell anyone as he as an ulterior motive. When the bank examiner discovers the shortage later that night, George realizes he will be held responsible and the company will dissolve. This would allow Potter to take over of the town.

Forgetting he has a loving family and many grateful friends, George becomes dejected and on the verge of committing suicide. The solution is Clarence, an angel sent from heaven to help the desperately despondent George by showing him what life would have been like if he had never been born.
