ELMHURST, IL — The Elmhurst College campus reopened Wednesday after closing for two days in response to three incidents of threatening graffiti found on campus last week.

All classes will resume as regularly scheduled, the school said Tuesday.

The vandalism involved hate messages and non-specific threats, according to the school. A school spokeswoman confirmed one of the threats, found on Oct. 23 in a bathroom at Neibuhr Hall, included a message to "Shoot the school" and "Shoot it up!"

The school said it spent Monday and Tuesday assessing campus needs and determining "the best ways to continue to support students, faculty, staff and campus community members."

"As we move forward, we will learn and grow from what has happened, and our campus community will become stronger," Elmhurst College President Troy VanAken wrote. "I look forward to seeing everyone around campus."
