The district says the work at a middle school has been completed.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst alderman said this week that the local school district had not completed its work on a parking lot before a Sept. 1 deadline.

Mulliner made the point at the end of Monday's meeting of the City Council's Development, Planning and Zoning Committee.

The project involves a gravel parking lot at Bryan Middle School.
In May, Elmhurst School District 205 decided to start work on the lot, which has been referred to as an eyesore.

"The direction for the lot was for it to be cleaned up," district spokeswoman Tonya Daniels said in an email to Patch on Wednesday. "Our teams were all working hard to ensure that all of our buildings were ready for students to start the new year, which led to a delay in the completion. The lot has been cleaned up."
Among the other projects was the opening of the new Lincoln Elementary School.
The parking lot in question is at the northeast corner of Bryan Street and Butterfield Road.
As part of the project, the district was to remove bushes and the fence surrounding the lot.
