Elmhurst D-205 Prepares for Coronavirus
High-traffic areas are receiving extra attention for cleaning, district says.
ELMHURST, IL — No coronavirus cases have been reported in Elmhurst, but Elmhurst School District 205 says it is taking steps to protect its students.
In a statement last week, the district said its facilities and grounds staff will continue with daily and nightly cleaning practices, including disinfecting surfaces, door knobs, restrooms and water fountains. And high-traffic areas such as offices and nurse stations will receive extra attention.
"Finally, while coronavirus is very concerning, it is important to point out that respiratory viruses like the flu are circulating," Superintendent David Moyer said in the statement. "Fever, coughing and difficulty breathing are symptoms associated with all of them. Therefore, anyone exhibiting symptoms should not be assumed to have COVID-19, but should seek appropriate medical attention."
