ELMHURST, IL – The Elmhurst School District 205 board is looking to amend Superintendent Keisha Campbell's contract.

The issue is on the board's agenda for Tuesday night.

But unlike other issues, the board is apparently keeping under wraps the proposed amendment until after its vote.

That's unlike other school districts. In January, the Hinsdale High School District 86 board approved controversial changes to its superintendent's contract. The amendments were made available to the public two days beforehand.

District 205 appears to have a custom where it keeps secret many items related to staff and some consultants before meetings.

Last month, the board followed that practice with plans to create math and language positions. In 2021, the district never put on its website the contract for a consultant who faced allegations of verbal abuse. (The consultant later resigned.)

In 2021, Campbell, a York High School graduate, was hired with a salary of $225,000. Last year, her contract was amended to increase her vacation days by five, to 25.

On Monday, Patch left a message for comment about the board's practice with board President Kara Caforio.
