Elmhurst Playgrounds Open: Park District
Outdoor equipment is not disinfected, so people are playing at own risk, district says.

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst Park District officials said Monday they planned to open playgrounds by day's end. This was after they said they thoroughly reviewed guidelines about whether they could do so, according to a news release. Staff has begun removing tape and adding signage.
Throughout the statewide shutdown, staff continued monthly playground inspections, the news release said. However, the district informed the public it does not disinfect outdoor equipment or frequently touched outdoor surfaces, so people are advised to play at their own risk.
Also, under state regulations, gatherings will be limited to 50 people, social distancing is required and people who are sick or symptomatic are asked not to play on the playgrounds, according to the release. Use of masks is encouraged when in the presence of others.
