Elmhurst Rotary Offers Service Above Self Scholarship
The college-bound student will receive $4,000 annually for four years.
ELMHURST, IL — The Elmhurst Rotary Club is again offering the Service Above Self Scholarship for an outstanding high school senior, according to a Rotary news release. The college-bound student will receive $4,000 this year, which is renewable for three successive years and a total of $16,000.
“Judging will be based on the student’s commitment to helping others through volunteering, service projects and community-based initiatives,” David McKenna, Elmhurst Rotary's president, said in the release. “Service Above Self is Rotary’s motto, so we want to encourage and reward a student that finds real joy in serving others.”
Applicants must be graduating this year from IC Catholic Prep, Timothy Christian or York high schools. Financial need will be considered.

Further details and a link to an application are available on the Elmhurst Rotary website. The application deadline is March 25.
Elmhurst Rotary has a long-standing commitment of helping deserving students attend college, the news release said. Since 1955, more than 400 students from IC Catholic Prep, Timothy Christian and York Community high schools have received more than $500,000 in scholarships.

The club’s 45 members join fellow Rotarians around the world in support of the Rotary International Foundation’s efforts to promote peace, fight diseases, provide clean water and address education and literacy problems, according to the release.
