Helicopter Enlisted In Elmhurst Search

ELMHURST, IL – Police searched for four car burglary suspects early Sunday morning in a southside Elmhurst neighborhood, according to a police news release.

A resident told Elmhurst police about seeing the suspects on security video trying to enter a parked car, the release said.

When officers arrived, the suspects ran away. The officers recovered a stolen car from another town on the street, police said.

Police set up a perimeter of McKinley, Parkside, Vallette Street and Prospect Avenue. They said they used a helicopter, a drone and the state police K-9 unit in the search, but were unable to find the suspects.

The police described the suspects as young men with dark skin. Two wore white or gray hooded sweatshirts and dark pants, while one had on a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, police said. The final one was wearing a mask, a gray shirt and shorts.

During the early morning hours, police urged people to keep their doors and garages locked.
