Here's Who Elmhurst Mayor Wants On City Council
The city is seeking to fill the seat left vacant when then-Alderman Scott Levin became mayor.

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst Mayor Scott Levin has nominated a recently retired teacher to fill a vacancy on the City Council.
Jim Nudera, who retired after 38 years in education, is the mayor's pick for the Ward 5 seat that Levin held before he became mayor in May. Nudera was one of nine candidates to apply for the position.
The council is set to vote on Levin's nominee at its meeting Monday.

Ward 5 is in central Elmhurst and includes the Spring Road commercial district, Lincoln Elementary School and Pioneer Park. The other Ward 5 alderman is Tina Park.
A 22-year-resident of Elmhurst, Nudera was most recently a driver's education teacher at Naperville Central for two years.

For two decades before that, he was a teacher and head football coach at Oak Park and River Forest High School. He has also been the head football coach at Prospect and Marist high schools.
He received a bachelor's degree in physical education from North Central College and a master's degree in educational leadership from Michigan State University.
"I am an organized, committed individual who will research solutions to make rational decisions," he said in his application to the city. "I am excited to serve the community that we have raised our four children in. I believe in supporting local business and want to see Elmhurst continue to thrive."
He is currently an election judge for DuPage County. He has been a volunteer coach and was a member of the York High School athletic coaching staff for eight years. He has assisted Elmhurst PTA activities from elementary through high school.
