IC Catholic Prep Principal Set To Retire
Levar's career at IC Catholic Prep includes serving as a teacher, coach, the Dean of Students, President/Principal, and Principal.

ELMHURST, IL — After 41 years at the school, IC Catholic Prep Principal Pamela Levar is retiring at the end of the current school year. The school said Levar's career at IC Catholic Prep includes serving as a teacher, coach, the Dean of Students, President/Principal, and Principal. She accepted the position of principal because of her heartfelt belief that this college prep school in Elmhurst had a strong foundation of faith, tradition and pride.
“For 41 years Pam has been an integral part of IC Catholic Prep and on behalf of our entire community, I express my gratitude to her for a professional lifetime of dedication to our school and community,” Very Rev. Thomas Paul, V.F., Pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish, said in a release. “She is a great leader, excellent administrator and above all has helped thousands of students reach their fullest potential. Her impact and legacy are immeasurable and we will greatly miss her on a daily basis, however, her influence at IC will forever be felt.”
The school said throughout her career, Levar has established meaningful and lasting relationships with students and families. At the 48th Annual Knight of Jewels Gala, attendance was nearly doubled from previous years to honor her 40 years of service to the ICCP community.

“Working in this building day after day, year after year, has proven to me, time and again, how exceptional the members of the ICCP community are, and how faithfully they serve,” Levar said in a release. “Everyone who has walked these halls has left an indelible mark on this wonderful school, and more importantly, on my heart. I am so very proud of this school and our many accomplishments throughout the years.”
During her career, Levar oversaw a number of facility improvement projects over the years, including the state-of-the-art Plunkett Athletic Complex and the renovation of the main floor of the high school building. According to the school, under her leadership, more and more students earned entry into the colleges and universities of their choice with hundreds of graduates having been named Illinois State Scholars and thousands of graduates having earned Advanced Placement credits and awards.

“Pam is a dynamic, creative, kind and generous school administrator and colleague,” Tom Schergen, President, IC Catholic Prep, said in a release. “It has been an honor to work side by side with her and to observe the tremendous impact she’s had on so many students, staff and parents within our community. We will definitely miss her presence and leadership and we will do our very best to continue to build on her legacy by working tirelessly and faithfully to provide young men and women the kind of learning environment that empowers their academic, physical and spiritual growth.”
The school said upon finding the right candidate, the board will make a recommendation for the next Principal to the Very Rev. Thomas Paul, V.F., Pastor of the Immaculate Conception Parish.
