IC Catholic Prep Students Achieve Honors On AP Exams

76 percent of the ICCP AP exams resulted in a score of 3 or higher based on a scale from 1 to 5, the school said.

ELMHURST, IL — IC Catholic Prep has announced that its AP students qualified for 26 AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams during the 2017-2018 school year. The school said in total, 76 percent of the ICCP AP exams resulted in a score of 3 or higher based on a scale from 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest possible score. 18 students scored a 5 on the 20 AP exams they took.

“We’re exceptionally proud of our students at IC Catholic Prep for their commitment to college preparation through AP Exams,” Principal Pamela Levar, said in a release. “Our students put in a great deal of effort to achieve exemplary scores on these challenging exams. They receive tremendous support from their parents and our teachers, who are among the finest and most prepared educators in Elmhurst and throughout DuPage County.”

The school said nine students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award, granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams:

  • Joshua De La Cruz (Dartmouth University)

The following students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams:

  • Susan Maloney (Class of 2019)
  • Timothy McCann (University of Wisconsin-Madison)
  • Charles O’Brien (University of Wisconsin-Madison)
  • Luke Ricobene (University of Dayton)

The school said in 2017-2018 the AP program continued to grow with a total of 90 IC Catholic Prep students taking 173 AP exams. Currently, ICCP offers enrollment in nine AP courses in the areas of English Literature and Composition, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, US History, World History, US Government and Politics, English Language and Composition, and Spanish Language and Culture.
