Leyden’s Summer Theater Workshop presents Junie B. Jones, The Musical from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 5, and from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, in the auditorium at West Leyden High School, 1000 N. Wolf Rd., Northlake.

Based on a series of children’s books by author Barbara Parks, and adapted for the stage by Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich, Junie B. Jones,The Musical is a delightful adaptation that features a feisty, outspoken, sassy youngster brought to life in a comical musical that reveals Junie’s adventures on her first day of first grade. And yes, there’s a lot happening. Junie is having trouble seeing the blackboard, she might need glasses; and her BFF doesn’t want to be her buddy any more. Could first grade be more eventful?

The cast and crew is composed of students from both campuses, and includes nine incoming freshmen. Other production members are co-directors Adriana Pilolla and Frank Scalero, music director Beckee Boisee, technical director Victor Pilolla and choreographer Jessica Bernal.
