Leyden students, staff and administrators, and playwright Nancy Garcia Loza, have partnered theatrical forces with the goal of presenting a remote table reading of Wave, Loza’s original script written for Teatro Leyden.

In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the production - a story about a Mexican family facing separation, civil unrest and hope against hope - will be transmitted via Zoom at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7. The reading will be available to all students, parents, staff and community members.

“When asked to contribute cultural activities to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, Frank Bavone (director) and I thought that Teatro Leyden should provide some activity combining theater with the celebration,” says Victor Pilolla, the district’s theatrical productions manager. “This is how we decided on our final reading of the stage version of Wave.”
