Options Fair open to Leyden community members with disabilities

The fair offers students with special needs the chance to meet with representatives from colleges and trades certification programs.

Leyden students with disabilities are invited to attend the Options Fair to be held on Monday, October 21, 6 p.m. to 8 pm at Lyons Township High School, South campus, 4900 Willow Springs Rd., Western Springs. This program is free and the Leyden community is invited to attend. Registration is not required.

The fair offers students with special needs the opportunity to meet with representatives from colleges and universities, trades and certification programs, and agencies that can provide services to people with disabilities after high school.

The options are grouped in four clusters:

College degree programs with information regarding admissions and accommodations.

College experience programs for those interested in continuing their education formally after high school with a focus on developing vocational, social, independent living and academic skills for employment and beyond.

Trades/certification programs with information regarding admissions and training opportunities in trades such as automotive, skilled manufacturing, HVAC, welding, and computer technology.

Adult agencies/services that will provide insight about accessing state funding and services, obtaining government benefits, guardianship, long-term financial planning, day programs and more.
