Pulitzer Prize Winner To Speak In Elmhurst

Writer Rick Atkinson's lecture will be about military leaders in World War II.

ELMHURST, IL — A Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and historian is coming to Elmhurst College to speak about the prominent military leaders in World War II and what people can learn about their successes and failures. Rick Atkinson, author of "The British are Coming" and "Liberation Trilogy," will start his lecture at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, in Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel, 190 Prospect Ave.

Atkinson is a former writer and senior editor at the Washington Post. He is a two-time Pulitzer winner for his work there and also won a Pulitzer in 2003 for the first of his World War II histories, "An Army at Dawn: The War in North Africa, 1942-1943.”

A book signing will follow the lecture, and copies of Atkinson’s books will be available for purchase. Admission is $20 for the general public and free for Elmhurst College students, faculty, staff and alumni. Tickets are available by visiting the college's website.
